Government targets dads AGAIN in Child Support ‘fraud’ crackdown
The government is again targeting fathers they claim are ‘deadbeats’ and are trying to get out of supporting their children by fraudulently denying they are the father.
Those dads suspected of faking paternity tests will now be added to the DNA database in a huge fraud crackdown, yet mothers involved in paternity fraud are not prosecuted.
The Department for Work and Pensions has now asked the National Police Chiefs Council for permission to access the controversial database in a push for more prosecutions.
Under a new memorandum of understanding with police forces across the country, the department’s criminal investigation team can now send a request to officers to arrest a suspect involved in potential cases.
Officers will then compare the profiles with those already on the database – which was set up in 1995 – to ensure at least 20 to 40 more prosecutions a year.
Said F4J founder Matt O’Connor, “Yet again there is one law for mothers and another for fathers. A recent report said that nearly half of men who take paternity tests are not the real father.”
“How many dads are stung for child support and don’t get the money back? How many mothers have been prosecuted for paternity fraud and ‘conception by deception’? None.”
“This will also allow the state to increase its database of fathers who are being routinely treated as a criminal subclass.”
