Myleene Klass drops legal threats after Fathers4Justice defy demands to remove advert – but she refuses to publicly deny allegations of contact denial

MYLEENE KLASS AD

Campaign group Fathers4Justice today said celebrity mother Myleene Klass had dropped legal threats to seek an injunction and punitive damages for defamation, after the group refused to remove an advert from social media criticising her for reportedly denying her children access to their father for over a year.

Lawyers for Ms Klass used Article 8 of the Human Rights Act to prevent publication of the Fathers4Justice story in the national media on Wednesday 22nd July.

Letters from solicitors Lee & Thompson had made the following demands:

“We have no choice but to advise our client to seek an emergency injunction…you should remove your advert from social media “IMMEDIATELY” and ensure it is not featured in the national press or she will seek substantial compensation, aggravated damages for defamation including in respect of any subsequent re-publication of your defamatory portrayal of her, for which you will be liable in law.”

Fathers4Justice responded by giving Ms Klass until 4.00pm on 23rd July to make a public denial in the national media that the allegations that she denied her children access to her father for over a year were false.

When that failed to materialise, the group encouraged its supporters to boycott the retailer Mothercare where Ms Klass sells her Baby K range. https://www.fathers-4-justice.org/2015/07/fathers4justice-call-for-boycott-of-mothercare-over-allegations-myleene-klass-denied-dad-access-to-kids/

Said Fathers4Justice campaign director Nadine O’Connor, “We will not be bullied or intimidated by celebrities who threaten punitive sanctions against a voluntary run campaign group who rightly comment on matters regarding contact denial which are in the public domain.”

“Whilst we are pleased Ms Klass has dropped her threats and that our advert remains available for public viewing, we are concerned about the censorship of the media in this case and the fact that Ms Klass refuses to deny these allegations. Until she does, our campaign will continue.”

The group also confirmed they had been in contact with the ex-husband of Myleene Klass, Graham Quinn, and offered him support and advice.
