F4J writes to every MP & member of the House of Lords over Conservative Party allegations

Fathers4Justice yesterday wrote to every MP and member of the House of Lords yesterday following allegations made against Fathers4Justice by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and the Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Caroline Nokes.

Within hours, David Cameron had withdrawn his allegations, though Fathers4Justice say they are taking legal advice on whether Mr Cameron’s response fully mitigates the harm caused by the allegations.

The group say Caroline Nokes MP has made numerous allegations against Fathers4Justice over several months alleging she has been harassed and threatened by the group. In the letter to members of both Houses, Fathers4Justice say these allegations were made after Ms Nokes was interviewed by Hampshire Police in the vicinity of the family home of F4J founder, Matt O’Connor, on 20th February 2014, following a violent incident and the O’Connor’s began civil action against her for aiding and abetting assault, causing alarm and distress to a child, stalking, harassment, breach of privacy and trespass.

The group has asked Ms Nokes to withdraw her remarks and apologise for them on the same terms as Mr Cameron.

Said F4J Founder Matt O’Connor, “We take all allegations seriously, and where these are falsely made, will ask that these allegations are withdrawn. The Prime Minister has gone some way to doing this, however, we remain greatly concerned that these false allegations appear to be part of a Conservative Party smear campaign, something we had been warned to expect following the dispute over their broken 2010 election promises.”

“We must not forget that Cameron was not only dishonest about his claims we had climbed on his roof, but that he was dishonest about his promise to introduce Shared Parenting. If there is something he should apologise for, it is those broken promises.”
