£100 Voucher for Families ‘Worthless for the Fatherless’ say F4J
Fathers4Justice today condemned that government’s £100 voucher for parenting classes as ‘worthless for the fatherless’ noting that 1 in 3 children are growing up in the UK without a father. F4J believes mass fatherlessness is one of the key causes of anti social behaviour in the UK.
Under the scheme, mother and fathers of under-fives will be eligible for £100 vouchers from Boots which can be used to buy parenting classes. The trial scheme, which aims to tackle the underlying causes of last years rioting will cost taxpayers £5 million.
Fathers4Justice said the scheme ‘wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on’.
Said Campaign Director Nadine O’Connor, “The voucher is about as much use as paper plane. It won’t fly while the government refuses to tackle the epidemic of fatherlessness in the UK. Is a voucher better than a dad and what good is a parenting class to fathers denied access to their children?”
